No save feature lol, i know this is a touchy subject, but if you were half way through Contra and had to go somewhere that was it, you'd have to start all over again. And there is a huge level of satisfaction in 'mastering' the game. It's so easy to just jump in and start fighting. Each level feels totally different.īoth games have crazy replayability. In Returnal you open crates to get better weapons. In Contra you shoot the flying crate things to get better weapons. You start off the game with a pea shooter and have to find better weapons throughout the game. That’s why NES games like Gradius and Life Force offer some of the console’s most memorable challenges. You just have to learn the enemy patterns, level design, and get good! The games are very difficult and totally unforgiving. Contra A NES classic with tons of bullets, intense gunplay. I wonder if other Returnal lovers here also played Contra back in the dayĪfter playing the ever loving shit out of Returnal, which is now in my top 10 games of all time, I've come to realize its very similar to the Contra games back on the NES. Mega Man 2 made it all the way to number 4 on IGNs Top 100 NES games of all time. The Contra games really stood out to me though, I liked them the most, they just clicked with me.
